WebMake good use of the markets in the book- you can sell excess materials and buy in the things you need. You can buy a trading machine there too to semi/automate selling very early on. Quartz can be mined with a stone pick, and made into tools saving you a LOT of iron. Look out for small houses- they have some pretty nice loot in the chests.

WebReason #2 (The real reason): Optifine can behave differently on different hardware and with different mod combinations within a modpack. It basically makes a tradeoff by introducing bugs in exchange for better performance. Sometimes those bugs aren't noticeable or are minor. Other times they are game-breaking. WebBest way to mine it early is the mining gadget. Easiest way to find it is to make a charm of allthemodium vision. When active, this will highlight all allthemodium ores in a certain radius around you and show them even through other blocks. That requires an allthemodium ingot.
