The vehicle has 80,000 miles. Oil has been changed every 3,000 to 3,500 miles. I went a little past 4,000 once or twice. Vehicle has been well maintained and never abused. Mine made a tapping sound for a month or two then the piston basically exploded, ripping the wrist pin out of the piston. If caught early you can get by with changing just the damaged piston. Am old time engine expert can tell you if the sound is camshaft speed or crankshaft speed.
